Sometimes a role doesn’t just challenge an actor. It changes them. For Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, that transformative journey came with her 2022 romantic drama, ‘Gehraiyaan’.
Speaking to IANS, Ananya revealed how the film pushed her to explore parts of herself she hadn’t tapped into before, both on screen and in real life.
“’Gehraiyaan’ really changed a lot for me,” Ananya Panday said. “It made me dig deep into emotions I hadn’t explored, not just as an actor, but personally too.”
The 26-year-old actress explained that playing Tia required her to embrace stillness and subtlety.
“It was such an internal and nuanced role,” she added. “I had to reflect a lot on myself to bring Tia to life. It taught me to be comfortable with silence and restraint, which is a whole new experience for me!”
Directed by Shakun Batra, ‘Gehraiyaan’ also stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa, with supporting performances by Rajat Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah.

Set in a contemporary urban backdrop, the film delves into complex themes like infidelity, emotional trauma, and the tangled relationships of four people navigating love, ambition, and betrayal.
After this intense journey, Ananya is gearing up for two exciting projects. First up is ‘Chand Mera Dil’, a love story directed by Vivek Soni, who previously made ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’.
Her other upcoming film, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’, reunites her with Kartik Aaryan, marking their second on-screen collaboration after 2019’s ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’. The film features veteran actors like Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta, alongside a talented supporting cast.
Produced by Karan Johar in collaboration with Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, and Kishor Arora, it’s slated for a February 13 release next year.
