Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has a reason to celebrate as his grandson, Agastya Nanda, makes a strong cinematic debut with the war biopic ‘Ikkis’. The film, released on January 1, 2026, has already opened the year on a high note at the domestic box office.

‘Ikkis’ box office collection
Taking to X, Amitabh shared the film’s impressive earnings. Within just four days, ‘Ikkis’ has raked in Rs 22.05 crore in India. The movie kicked off with Rs 7.28 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 4.02 crore on Day 2.
Weekend audiences turned up in full force, helping the film earn Rs 5.05 crore on Day 3 and Rs 5.70 crore on Day 4.

About ‘Ikkis’
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, ‘Ikkis’ tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
Alongside Agastya, the cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev.

Amitabh Bachchan recently attended a screening of the film and shared a deeply personal note on his blog. Recalling Agastya’s birth and early childhood, Big B wrote about holding him for the first time, watching him grow, and the small moments like Agastya playing with his beard.
He reflected on the grandson’s journey from those early days to the big screen, describing the experience of watching him act as overwhelming.

“Emotions flow… As do they tonight when you witness the grandson excel in IKKIS … When he is in the frame you only watch him … and this is not a grandfather speaking, this is a hardened viewer of cinema,” he wrote.
