Aparna Sen, often described as one of Indian cinema’s most graceful storytellers, has been a trailblazer in Bengali and Hindi films for decades. Her illustrious career as an actress, director, and writer has earned her nine National Film Awards and the prestigious Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour.

From her acting debut in Satyajit Ray’s ‘Teen Kanya’ to directing acclaimed films like ’36 Chowringhee Lane’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Iyer’, Aparna Sen has consistently redefined women’s voices in cinema.

The celebration didn’t stop with Konkona’s post. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, a close friend of Aparna’s, also took to social media to express her love and admiration.

Sharing a picture of them together, Shabana wrote, “With the gorgeous Aparna Sen on her 80th birthday. The words spoken tonight by her children, husband, and friends show what a complete person she is. Filmmaker, actor, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. I love you with all my heart, Rina, and admire you for all that you are. Happy birthday.”
