Amit Jani, the producer of the upcoming film ‘Udaipur Files’, has received Y-category security from the government after facing threats related to the film’s subject. The security cover comes in response to growing concerns over his safety.
However, this security will only be valid in parts of north India, specifically in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. As per Y-category security rules, 11 personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will now accompany Jani during his movements in these regions.
Amit Jani expressed his gratitude on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
He wrote, “Heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji for providing Y category security.”

The film ‘Udaipur Files’ is based on an incident that happened in 2022; the killing of a tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. He was murdered for allegedly sharing a social media post in support of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. Her earlier remarks on Prophet Muhammad had triggered widespread controversy and protests across the country.
Following the murder, the accused even shared a video claiming responsibility. He said the act was revenge for Kanhaiya Lal’s support of Nupur Sharma.

The film has already been at the center of legal battles and objections. Javed, one of the accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to stop the film’s release. Despite this, the makers received clearance for release after making major changes.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had earlier asked the filmmakers to make around 150 cuts before granting approval. After several delays, ‘Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder’ is now going to hit theatres on August 8, 2025.
Actor Vijay Raaz plays the lead role in the film. The movie was earlier expected to release on July 11, 2025, but had to be pushed back due to the certification process and legal hurdles.
