The film brings together Konkona Sensharma and Pratibha Ranta in a layered drama that leans heavily on silence and emotional tension.
A respected doctor under scrutiny
The story follows Dr Geetika Sen, a well-known surgeon and gynaecologist whose carefully built life begins to shake after allegations of sexual misconduct emerge at her workplace.
The trailer opens with Geetika receiving an official complaint from her department.
As the whispers grow louder around her, what follows is a deliberate but steady unraveling on both a personal and professional level.
When personal life begins to fall apart
Geetika’s marriage life also starts to feel the strain as the pressure increases. The tension is increased by the trailer’s suggestion of emotional distance and developing skepticism in her relationship.
Even though criticism appears to be mounting around her, Geetika, flustered but determined, chooses to fight back and establish her innocence.
Director leans into ambiguity
Director Anubhuti Kashyap said the film intentionally sits in an uncomfortable space.
“With Accused, I wanted to explore what happens when we are denied clarity. The trailer reflects the emotional stillness and unease that runs through the film.”
“I’m grateful to Netflix for backing a story that resists easy answers and allows ambiguity to breathe.”, she said in a statement.
Konkona on playing Geetika
Speaking about her character, Konkona shared that what drew her in was Geetika’s inner breakdown under public gaze.
“Geetika is a woman used to control — of her work, her credibility, her space. What moved me was her internal collapse under scrutiny. I’m glad Netflix is bringing a story like this to audiences, one that trusts performance and silence over spectacle,” she said.
Pratibha Ranta calls the role emotionally complex
Pratibha, who plays Dr Meera in the film, described the part as emotionally layered.
“Playing Meera meant living in that messy space where you want to trust, but your heart isn’t sure. I’m so glad Netflix tells these kinds of real, complicated stories about women,” she said.
Release date locked
Accused is backed by Dharmatic Entertainment and will premiere on Netflix on February 27.
