6 Bollywood celebs who have made India proud internationally

As India is celebrating its 69th Republic Day today, let’s look at these six Bollywood stars who have made the country proud with their work in their field and otherwise internationally.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan is one such name who tops the list every time when it is about making the nation feel proud.

The 75-year-old global star and UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador has been spreading awareness on polio prevention for over a decade. His efforts in making India a polio-free country are huge. Also a top media house in Britain when conducted a poll among its huge base of readers, Big B was voted as one of ‘The top 10 admired People of the World’.

The national award winning actor has also been a part of government’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. On being asked what it feels like to be an Indian he said, “I am proud to be an Indian, very very proud of its accomplishments.” Even we are also proud of you Big B.

She first made us proud in the year 2000 when she bagged the prestigious title of Miss World in the same year. She made her Hollywood debut all by herself with an album ‘In My City’ after which she became unstoppable. She made album with American Rapper Pitbull, has done Baywatch with the world celebrity – Dwayne Johnson, popular as The Rock. Her TV series Quantico made her to win People’s Choice Award and not only this she has been invited twice to attend the Oscar Awards and got the honour of presenting award there.

Apart from her glam life, Priyanka has been working with UNICEF for the last 10 years and was appointed as the national and global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010 and 2016, respectively. The National Award winning actress has also been honoured by the Padma Shree Award in year 2016.

ShahRukh Khan

The actor was recently honoured by Crystal Award at World Economic Forum, Davous summit. The first Indian to be honoured by this award, Shah Rukh has worked in over 80 Bollywood films and is someone who even US former President Barack Obama quoted in his speeches. On being asked about working in Hollywood he said, “I have always said that I want to make Indian films which will be watched internationally.”

For those who don’t know much about this star, let us do the favour- Shah Rukh Khan is the only Indian to have a Statue in Grevin Museum, after Gandhi Ji. A rare species of orchid, Ascocenda Shah Rukh Khan, was named after him in Singapore. He is the only Indian who is honoured with the prestigious Brand Laureate Legendary Award for his incomparable contribution to the world Cinema by Malaysian government, and the list goes on….

Filmfare Award? Yes around 15 times.

The face Indian music, A R Rahman’s music is undoubtedly divine and that is why the world too appreciates him. From Carnatic to hip-hop, Qawwali to rock, he made us to taste every bit of music he has within himself. No doubt, he is a human gem and India is proud to have him always.

Anupam Kher

The veteran actor has some great works to his recognition in the country. He is not only loved in the country but also in the West. He has worked in some great international ventures such as ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, ‘Lust, Caution’ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook’.

Kher had the privilege of sharing screen space with a legend like Robert De Niro, and he has shared the happiness of working with him a couple of times.

Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte has received world talking for her brilliant performance in her film ‘Madly’. She also managed to bag the Tribeca award for Best Actress in the International category for the role!

Other than this, she has done various short films for which she had received awards at many International film festivals. In terms of talent, she has always made India proud of her work which unfortunately got less recognition in her own country.
