Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta returned to her trademark spirited form after recovering from the shock of the attack on her.
On Friday, she resumed her public engagements, giving out a clear message that she will neither fear, nor will she tire or surrender.
In her first announcement of the day, Gupta said that East Delhi would be placed at the forefront of the national capital’s development and the government will approve funds needed for the development works of the trans-Yamuna region.
She took part in a special programme on the occasion of the golden jubilee of Gandhi Nagar readymade garments market in East Delhi, where she appeared healthy, composed, and confident, according to the CM’s Office.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the chief minister assured the people of the national capital that their CM will neither fear, nor tire, nor falter, and firmly declared that until Delhi secures its rightful entitlements, she will continue to be part of people’s struggle.
She emphasised that unrelenting perseverance is her life force and she will remain unwavering in her pledge.
The CMO confirmed that Gupta has fully resumed her efforts to address the concerns and development of the national capital with her daily work continuing as before.
On Wednesday morning, a man attempted a fatal attack on Gupta at the ‘Chief Minister Janseva Sadan’. The doctors who examined the CM had kept her under observation and advised a few days of rest to restore her energy to help her recover from the incident. However, on the very evening of the attack, she declared, “Such assaults can never break my resolve or weaken my commitment to public service. I will now be among the people with even greater energy and dedication. Public hearings and solutions to citizens’ issues will continue with the same seriousness and commitment as before. Your trust and support are my greatest strength.”
Although the doctors had advised two to four more days of rest for the CM on Thursday evening, she declined to do so stating that such attacks would never deter her from her pledge of a ‘Developed Delhi’.
She announced that from Friday onwards she would devote herself fully to public service.
In fact, she had already resumed working from home.
That same evening, she reiterated her resolve in a social media post, “I can never stop fighting for the interests of Delhi’s people. Every moment of my life and every particle of my being belongs to Delhi. Despite these unforeseen assaults, I will never abandon Delhi.”
