The 23rd Kusum Verma Memorial National Inter-School English Festival, themed ‘What about us’, was organised by Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, and The Old Springdalians Association on Thursday.
During the event, the students participated in three phases, including poetry recitation & expression, creative writing & expression, and enacting an act.
The festival is a tribute to the late Mrs. Kusum Verma, head of the English Department at Springdales School. Her passion for the language and her ability to inspire generations of students continue to be celebrated through this annual event.
The daylong program was filled with excitement and creativity as students from various schools showcased their talents. The judges and panellists, comprising esteemed educators, lent their expertise and guidance to the participants, providing them with a valuable learning experience.
In the end, Springdale School Naulakha emerged as the overall winner of the festival, while Bluebells School International was declared the runner-up. Individual prizes were awarded to students from Springdale School, Dhaula Kuan, Mother International, Blue Bells, Sardar Patel School, and others.
“Being her daughter, it is my humble privilege to celebrate the life of Mrs. Kusum Verma and her love for poetry, creative writing, and theatre, which she always instilled in her students, which made her a true educationist,” Dr. Bhavna Barmi, Sr. Clinical Psychologist, sharing her experience, said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ritu Verma, Trustee, OSA, expressing her keen interest in poetry and art, added, “It is such a pleasure to see young minds today move away from AI and social platforms to present their viewpoint without fear or hesitation. May the spirit of seeking knowledge and breaking barriers always prevail.”
