Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday conducted a thorough inspection of the Kanwar Yatra route in East Delhi, reviewing security arrangements and directing officials to ensure the entire path remains safe and well-managed.

Gupta paid a visit to the Kanwar pilgrim camp at the Shyamgiri Baba temple in East Delhi’s Shastri Park, accompanied by minister Kapil Mishra, and welcomed the pilgrims by showering flower petals on them, and reaffirmed the government’s role to serve the devotees.

Speaking on the occasion, Gupta emphasized that the Kanwar Yatra is more than a religious procession and is a living celebration of Indian culture, heritage, and collective faith.

She highlighted that the government has undertaken unprecedented preparations this year to make the yatra safer, more orderly, and comfortable for all devotees.

According to the CM, key arrangements including permissions, electricity, drinking water, sanitation, mobile toilets, waste management, and security were streamlined through a single-window clearance system this time.

CM appreciated efforts by social groups, volunteers, and dedicated committees for their tireless coordinated teamwork, and selfless dedication.

In a major administrative step, the government disbursed advance funds to all registered Kanwar committees via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring timely implementation of logistical arrangements.

She appreciated the efforts of minister Mishra, Divisional Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, District Magistrates, and other officials for their exemplary coordination.

Reiterating the government’s role, Gupta said that this year, the administration functioned at every level as a volunteer not as a formal organiser.

She extended her best wishes to all devotees for the upcoming Shivratri, assuring that the Delhi government will remain committed to upholding tradition, public faith, and inclusive service in the years ahead.

Speaking on the occasion, Mishra echoed the sentiments of the CM, stating that the Kanwar Yatra is not just a religious event, but a celebration of culture and country’s spiritual heritage.
