Scattered light showers reported across Delhi

Light showers were reported in parts of the national capital on Friday, with the city’s air quality also seeing an improvement at 59 in the ‘satisfactory’ category.

According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded up to 5:30 pm, Safdarjung—the city’s base weather station—received 4.6 mm of rainfall, classified as ‘light.’ Other stations also recorded light rainfall, with Ayanagar receiving 11 mm, Lodi Road 4.2 mm, Pragati Maidan 3.2 mm, and Najafgarh 2.5 mm, it said.

On Friday, Delhi’s base station recorded an increase in maximum temperature of 33.3 °C, nearly a degree below normal while the minimum settled at 24.°C temperature departing over 3 °C above the normal.

The weather department forecast partly cloudy sky with very light to light rain accompanied by thundshowers for Saturday afternoon and evening across all parts of Delhi.

For Saturday, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum will remain near normal, between 24°C and 26°C. Wind speeds may gust up to 10–15 km/h.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the capital’s average AQI in the past 24 hours on Thursday stood at 59 in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with PM10 and Ozone identified as the major pollutants recorded at 33 out of 39 stations.

As per CPCB classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
