Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing the people of the national capital with two high-speed corridors worth Rs 11,000 crore.
He stated that the construction of these corridors was initiated by the Centre during the previous AAP regime, but the inauguration of the same shows yet again that PM Modi has always remained concerned about Delhi’s growth and development.
Sachdeva also thanked Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the inauguration of the Dwarka Expressway’s Delhi section from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur to the Delhi-Haryana border, and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
The Delhi BJP chief said development works in the city had been stalled in the past 10 years, but now BJP’s double-engine government is working to complete all those in a time-bound manner.
He termed the inauguration of the corridors a ‘new momentum’ in the development for the city.
Emphasizing that the two projects have been launched to reduce congestion in the capital, he expressed the hope that once they become operational, there would be significant improvements in connectivity, shorter travel times, and reduced traffic congestion in and around the city.
Sachdeva noted that the 10.1 km-long Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of approximately Rs 5,360 crore, and additionally, a 3.6 km long grand tunnel has also been dedicated to the people. According to him, the section will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue Line, Orange Line, the upcoming Bijwasan Railway Station, and the Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot.
Sachdeva also said that the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 5,580 crore, aimed to ease traffic on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads as well as at key traffic points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.
