BJP leader and Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma once again targeted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday over his lifestyle and renovated accommodation at Lodhi Estate, dubbing it ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ and alleging that private money was used to create lavish amenities in the residence.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Verma said that pictures of Kejriwal’s new bungalow at Lodhi Estate have astonished everyone.
Hitting out at the AAP chief, the BJP leader said his common man claims have proved to be a farce, adding that he has become accustomed to a lavish lifestyle.
Verma alleged that the residence allotted to the AAP chief is a government accommodation, but the money spent on it is not ‘sarkari’.
Displaying pictures, the minister said they showed that the bungalow allotted by the Centre to the AAP national president had undergone costly renovations. He alleged that the nature of work carried out at the residence does not match the standards of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and appears to involve private expenditure.
Raising this question before the AAP chief and his party, the BJP leader asked how much money was spent, and by whom, on creating such high-end amenities in the government accommodation.
He also claimed that after looking at the pictures, it appears that there is hardly any other government house in the area as lavish as this one.
Sharpening his attack on Kejriwal, Verma said, “After he was forced out of Sheesh Mahal by Delhi’s voters (Dhurandhars), Kejriwal moved to Punjab, where he was allotted another bungalow. Now, he has created ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ at Lodhi Estate.”
Meanwhile, dismissing Verma’s claims, AAP leader Atishi said that the pictures shown as Kejriwal’s new house were not of the residence allotted to the AAP leader but had been downloaded from social media.
She alleged that, with nothing left against Kejriwal, such false claims are being made based on images allegedly picked up from the internet.
Taking to X, Atishi said, “These are not pictures of Kejriwal ji’s house. To determine whose house is more luxurious, Rekha Gupta ji and LG Sahib should open their homes, and Kejriwal ji will open his. The public will decide for itself.”
