On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, a ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ (Service Pledge March) and a mega blood donation camp were organised at the iconic Kartavya Path, India Gate, that witnessed participation from a large number of people, including Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and her ministers.
On the occasion, the CM also highlighted schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which are playing a significant role in transforming Delhi into a developed capital.
Gupta stated that the PM is not only establishing the country’s name internationally, but is also helping transform Delhi into a global capital.
Over the past eleven years, PM Modi has continuously worked for Delhi’s growth, driven by his commitment and vision to make the city exceptional, she added.
The CM highlighted the Centre’s key initiatives for the capital, including highways and expressways built at a cost of Rs 1.25 lakh crore, as well as the launch of projects such as UER-1 and UER-2, aimed at effectively reducing pollution in Delhi.
She added that under the PM’s leadership, the metro network has been expanded by 400 kilometres, helping prevent Delhi from being trapped in severe traffic congestion.
She further said that the central government provided world-standard auditoriums such as Yashobhoomi and Bharat Mandapam, transformed Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s parinirvan site into a memorial, and developed a significant site at Panchteerth.
Expressing pride, the CM said, “Delhi is fortunate to have a PM who has always stood by the city.”
Gupta, her cabinet colleagues, public representatives, and youth also participated in a blood donation drive, where 1,157 units of blood were collected, setting a new record.
Historically, city-wide blood donation camps have collected 2,000 units, while the highest collection at a single site previously was 350 units.
After donating blood, Gupta said, “Every drop of my blood is for the nation,” and shared that 800 units were collected within the first two hours of the camp, which she described as a remarkable example of service and dedication.
She also highlighted the wishes in different languages offered by schoolchildren as a beautiful example of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India).
Gupta announced that during the 15-day Seva Sankalp Fortnight, starting Wednesday, the Delhi government will dedicate 75 public welfare schemes to the people.
A large number of youths participated in the event, and their spirited involvement enhanced the festive atmosphere.
Delhi ministers Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, Ravinder Indraj, MLAs, MPs, and senior BJP leaders were also present on the occasion.
