The Ministry of Defence is conducting the Swachhata Special Campaign 5.0 with an objective to promote e-waste and disposal of obsolete items, reuse of space and cleanliness in various buildings and premises of the ministry. The campaign, which was launched on 2nd October, will conclude on 31st October.
In a statement, the Ministry of Defence stated that under this campaign, the disposal of unserviceable items and e-waste kept in the premises of the ministry was done in two phases. In the first phase, a total revenue of Rs 3,50,460 (including taxes) was generated in the auction process on 26 September 2025. Subsequently, the second phase was conducted on 3rd October, in which the auction generated a revenue of Rs 3,85,000 (including taxes). Thus, a total revenue of Rs 7,35,460 (including taxes) was generated in both phases.
During the campaign period, about 5600 sq. ft. of space was freed by disposing of unserviceable items kept in M-5 South Block, Sena Bhawan and Kashmere House of the Ministry. Also, room number M-5, located in M-5 South Block was renovated, making about 400 square feet of additional space reusable for office use and store.
Cleanliness, order and better utilization of space in offices and premises were promoted during the campaign. Continuous cleaning activities at M-5 South Block, Sena Bhawan and Kashmere House led to a significant improvement in the office environment. The Joint Secretary (Architect) and his team, officers and employees of the Central Public Works Department contributed appreciably in the successful operation of this campaign.
