Mist spraying found effective in curbing dust, system to be installed across city’s roads: Delhi CM

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday informed that the government is working on a comprehensive plan to install mist sprayers across roads in the national capital, an important move towards dust mitigation and pollution control.

She said that all the hotspots will be covered under the proposed plan to install the mist spraying systems, and later they will be installed across the entire city.

CM who was at the ITO area on Thursday to review the newly installed mist spraying systems on the busy road, while speaking to reporters shared that, amid the discussions and the use of water sprinklers for dust mitigation, it was also found the mist spraying also turned out to be an effective solution for curbing the dust particles, to control pollution.

CM informed that spraying of mist on the roads was earlier done in some NDMC areas, where the sprayers were installed on the light poles, and they yielded good results.

Accordingly the departments concerned are working to install these mist sprayer systems across nine locations where the pollution is very high.

CM said that the move is going to be effective in dust mitigation and pollution control.

She said that the government is working on a mission mode to tackle the pollution problem, and as part of this work, the mist sprayers have been installed at the ITO, which is one of the busiest traffic intersections in the city.

Gupta shared that she reviewed the set up at ITO along with officials concerned, and also took stock of the progress made in the dust mitigation in the area.

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Asish Sood was also present on the occasion, apart from the senior officials of the department concerned.

CM has reiterated that all the departments have been issued strict instructions regarding pollution control, and also asserted that no lapses will be tolerated in this regard.

According to the CM, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has been given clear directions that those departments found with laxities in cleanliness and pollution control measures must be fined heavily.

She has said that FIRs be launched against those found involved in road cutting activities without valid permissions.
