Lashing out at Arvind Kejriwal for his letter to Delhi High Court Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief has once again showed that he has niether respect nor trust in the judiciary.
Sachdeva called it extremely unfortunate that Kejriwal, who took oath on the Constitution as chief minister of Delhi three times, is now undermining the dignity of the very Constitution for fear of punishment in a case of corruption, the 2022 Delhi liquor scam.
He pointed out that having tried all possible legal relief, including approaching the Supreme Court, the AAP chief has now crossed all limits by once again writing to the judge. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Kejriwal has been continuously engaging in political theatrics after losing his appeal in the high court. This time, he stooped to making personal allegations against the judge.
The state unit chief of the saffron party further said that people of Delhi and the country clearly understand Kejriwal’s disruptive theatrics. It would be better for him to stop injudlging in cheap stunts and follow the judicial process.
In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal wrote, “In all humility and with complete respect for judiciary, I have written the following letter to Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, informing her that pursuing Gandhian principles of Satyagraha, it won’t be possible for me to pursue this case in her court, either in person or through a counsel. I have taken this difficult decision after coming to the clear conclusion that the proceedings being conducted in her court do not, in any manner, satisfy the fundamental principle that ‘justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done’. My participation in these proceedings, either myself or through a counsel will not achieve anything meaningful.”
