Delhi Police arrested a suspected gangster who was allegedly involved in the shooting incident at comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada, an official said on Friday.

Bandhu Man Singh, the notorious gangster, is a close associate of Canada-based gangster Goldy Dhillon, who is believed to be involved in multiple extortion rackets targeting businessmen and other high-profile individuals abroad.

According to investigators, Singh had been coordinating with Dhillon’s network and was part of a larger conspiracy to target the popular artist’s restaurant as an act of intimidation.

A senior police officer at a press conference said that the arrest was followed by specific intelligence inputs.

“A Chinese-made pistol, along with several cartridges, was recovered from his possession. His role in the conspiracy, as well as his connections with overseas operatives, is still under investigation,” the officer said.

He said that further investigation is underway to identify additional conspirators and determine the full extent of the gang’s activities in India and abroad.
