The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday intensified its campaign for the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, scheduled for September 18, with results the next day.
ABVP’s central panel candidates—Aryan Mann for President, Govind Tanwar for Vice President, Kunal Chaudhary for Secretary, and Deepika Jha for Joint Secretary—carried out a door-to-door campaign across paying guest accommodations (PGs) and hostels from North Campus to South Campus.
ABVP reached out to students residing in PGs and hostels located in areas such as Mukherjee Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Malka Ganj, Satya Niketan, Naraina Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Alipur, Rajouri Garden, and Lajpat Nagar. The campaign was conducted in small groups of 5–10 volunteers, during which ABVP introduced students to its agenda, distributed its manifesto, and appealed for their support in the upcoming elections.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma expressed confidence in student support and said, “We are fully confident that on 18 September, during the student union elections, DU students will place their trust and valuable votes in ABVP, ensuring our victory on all four seats.”
On Saturday, the BJP-backed ABVP released its manifesto for the DUSU elections. The document has been prepared after careful consideration of more than 5,000 suggestions received from students through various platforms, according to an official statement.
“This manifesto emphasises issues related to education, security, health, sports, and employment, giving them top priority,” it said.
Earlier on Friday, the candidates visited several colleges, including Hindu, Miranda House, Ramanujan, Kirori Mal, and Shivaji, interacting with students and collecting inputs for ABVP’s manifesto, set to be released on Saturday.
ABVP highlighted past initiatives such as the U-Special bus service, One Course–One Fee campaign, and Mission Sahasi for women’s safety, while candidates outlined priorities ranging from transport concessions to improved sports facilities and women’s amenities.
Following Delhi High Court guidelines, the group is also promoting an eco-friendly campaign.
