A Delhi Police constable accused of fatally shooting his wife in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area has died by suicide, bringing to an end a two-day search after he allegedly fled the scene of the crime.
Police said the constable, identified as Manish Bhati, was found dead in a park behind the Crowne Plaza in Mayur Vihar on Tuesday evening. His service revolver was recovered from beside the body.

According to police, the Mayur Vihar Police Station received a PCR call at around 6.10 pm reporting that a man was lying in a pool of blood inside the park.
A police team reached the spot and identified the deceased as Bhati, who was posted with the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the East district. Investigators believe he shot himself with his service weapon at around 6 pm.
A crime team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the scene. The body has been sent to the mortuary at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Wife was allegedly shot after argument
Bhati had been absconding since Sunday, when he allegedly shot his wife following a domestic dispute.
Police said preliminary findings indicated the couple had been facing marital problems for some time and frequently argued over personal issues.
According to investigators, the couple had left their residence together on a scooter on Sunday. An argument reportedly continued during the ride.
CCTV footage recovered during the investigation allegedly shows the couple stopping by the roadside and getting off the scooter before the confrontation escalated.
According to police sources, the footage captures the two arguing before the constable allegedly pulled out his service pistol and shot his wife.
