The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Saturday dismantled a Thailand-based drug syndicate and arrested six traffickers involved in smuggling high-grade OG Ganja into India, officials said.
A total of 5.737 kg of cannabis was seized along with three vehicles and two passports, they added.
“Acting on credible inputs, our team conducted raids on August 26, during which they apprehended Pratap Singh and Mehraj Khan from Golden Mansion Hotel in Keshopur Mandi, recovering 3.708 kg of OG Ganja from two cars, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Harsh Indora said.
During further investigation, the intel led officers to the key supplier, Anil Kumar Singh, in Hyderabad on Monday.
“Acting on his disclosure, 2.029 kg of OG Ganja was seized from his vehicle at his native village in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh,” the officer said.
Furthermore, three more accused — Harpreet Singh, Rajwant Singh, and Surjeet Singh — were apprehended from Delhi’s Chander Vihar on Wednesday.
“The syndicate was run by the kingpin Anil, and an absconding accused, Ishan, smuggled OG Ganja from Bangkok to India through carriers lured by money and foreign travel,” the DCP said.
The officer added that the drugs were sold at Rs 6 to 7 lakh per kg in Delhi-NCR after being procured from Thailand at Rs 1.5 lakh per kg.
“The cartel used airports in Amritsar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Delhi for transit. The arrests have exposed a complex cross-border trafficking network with financial links traced to Dubai,” DCP Indora said.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
