A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in Delhi’s Tilangpur Kotla village. Police said the attack followed suspicion over a phone call. The man later died after consuming poison.

According to police, the accused assaulted his wife using a battery. After the attack, he consumed aluminium phosphide tablets and informed his sister about what had happened.

Both the victim and the accused were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Doctors declared the woman brought dead. The accused also died during treatment at the hospital.

Post-mortem and legal process

A senior police officer confirmed on Saturday that post-mortem examinations for both the victim and the accused have been completed. The bodies have since been handed over to their families for cremation.

An FIR has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at PS Ranhola. Delhi Police confirmed that the investigation into the case is currently underway.

The sister’s account

The accused’s sister spoke to ANI about the circumstances leading up to the incident. She said her brother and his wife lived separately, while she lived with her mother and younger brother.

According to her, the dispute stemmed from her brother’s claim that he had caught his wife talking on the phone.

She recounted how her brother came home a few days later saying he had taken poison. He then told the family that he had killed his wife. By the time the family checked on her, she was already dead.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation, with further details expected as the inquiry progresses.

A separate case in Karkardooma

In an unrelated incident, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Delhi’s Karkardooma area following a domestic dispute, according to police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendra Prasad Meena told ANI that Anand Vihar police station received a call on the morning of June 28 reporting a woman found lying in a pool of blood.

Upon reaching the scene and speaking with family members, police learned about the woman’s husband, identified as Anuj Joshi.

According to the DCP, the accused told investigators he lived in Lucknow, where he ran a roadside cart. His wife, meanwhile, had started working as domestic help in Noida without his consent, which led to ongoing tension between them.

What led to the attack

Police said the accused travelled to Delhi and went to the place where his wife had been staying with her sister-in-law. During a conversation between the two, he allegedly attacked her with a knife.

When police arrived at the scene, the accused was brought under control.

According to DCP Meena, the accused has no prior criminal record. He has five children in total, three with the deceased and two from an earlier marriage.
