Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday conducted a survey of the Yamuna banks starting from the Palla village to the Hathi Ghat on a boat to gauge the overall situation and the ongoing cleaning work.

She said the government is working on a war footing to prepare for the upcoming Chhath Puja celebrations.

CM said that intensive survey done here on ground is not just a review of arrangements, but a step to ensure that there is a grand and well-organized Chhath celebration in Delhi. She said that the festival is very important for the people from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, something which also keeps them connected to the soil of Delhi, strengthening the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat”.

She said that directions have been given to all the departments concerned to prepare a plan for cleanliness, construction of ghats, security, and all other facilities in a swift manner to ensure that the large number of devotees can perform their worship rituals without facing any difficulty.

PWD minister Parvesh Verma, Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, and officials from various departments were also present during the survey that went on for a couple of hours.

As per the CM, after 27 years a government has come to power which is deeply concerned about the pains and issues of people, and is taking care of everything.

She said that this time the Kanwar Yatra, Ramleela and the Durga Puja festivities were conducted like never before, and with a lot of grandeur, and similarly the festival of Chhath Puja is also going to be grand.

Gupta said that starting from the Palla village, and going up to the Okhla side, the government is preparing Chhath ghats for the celebrations.

The resolution is to make the moment unforgettable for the devotees, when lakhs of them will be offering the ‘Arghya’ to the setting Sun and the rising Sun on Yamuna’s ghats, she added.

Meanwhile, taking to social media platform X, minister Verma said that he still remembers when back in 2021, the previous government had stopped the Chhath Puja along the Yamuna banks, that time he had taken part in the celebrations at the ITO with the devotees.

He added that now the times have changed and there is a BJP government in Delhi, and he has faith that this time the brothers and sisters from Purvanchal will not face any issue in celebrating Chhath.

Verma said that in the inspection conducted along with CM and minister Mishra, it is being ensured that work is done on all factors such as cleanliness, safety and security, and this time the festivities are better than before in every way.
