Delhi’s Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Sunday announced that cooperative institutions will establish a dedicated Blood Bank in the national capital to honour the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers. These blood banks will benefit the residents of the city, ensuring the availability of blood during emergencies.

The Minister was speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of the International Year of Cooperatives and the celebration of 25 years of the Federation of Group Housing Societies, Dwarka. He congratulated the Dwarka Federation for its earlier achievement of setting a record in blood donation, according to a press statement here.

Indraj said, “Under the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, Delhi will become a model for the entire nation in the cooperative sector. Cooperation is the only medium that can connect even the most marginalised and transform them into prosperous citizens.”

The Cooperation Minister informed that Delhi has nearly 2,000 Group Housing Societies. To promote local employment, self-reliance, and marketing of rural products from Delhi, he announced the building of cooperative stores in each society. “Cooperation can open new opportunities for small family-based businesses,” he noted.

Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the government’s plan to soon roll out a ‘life-saving’ mobile app featuring a directory of voluntary blood donors in the national capital. The initiative was aimed at addressing blood shortages and streamlining access to donors for those in urgent need.
