CM Rekha Gupta directs rejuvenation of water bodies, beautification of Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh parks

Aiming to promote environmental protection and urban greenery, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected Pitampura District Park and Karnel Wala Bagh in Shalimar Bagh on Sunday.

The Chief Minister issued directives aimed at enhancing beautification and citizen convenience, instructing all concerned departments to complete development works promptly and maintain high standards of quality. Highlighting the ecological importance of water bodies, she called for the rejuvenation of the water bodies in both parks to maintain ecological balance and enhance natural beauty. She also ordered the immediate repair of damaged gym equipment and the restoration of the non-functional musical fountain.

To enhance safety and structural integrity, the CM ordered the reconstruction of main gates, repair of boundary walls, and renovation of security grilles and lighting systems. She further directed the removal of illegal encroachments, repair and maintenance of public restrooms, provision of safe drinking water, redevelopment of shopping kiosks, and installation of adequate benches and tables to improve the visitor experience.

Additional directives included repairing the yoga platform, increasing police patrolling for enhanced security, and strengthening the overall lighting infrastructure. The Chief Minister also emphasised the need for clear signage and directional boards across the parks for better accessibility.

Connecting the campaign ‘Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi’ with public awareness, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of implementing this initiative effectively in public parks. She directed that the park walls be adorned with message-based murals to foster awareness and sensitivity towards cleanliness and environmental conservation.

Later, the CM inaugurated a series of development projects in the BF Block of Shalimar Bagh, including newly built footpaths, lighting, and beautification works worth Rs 15 lakh. She stated that it is the government’s continued endeavour to ensure every park and neighbourhood in Delhi is clean, safe, and well-equipped.
