CM announces indoor stadium for various sports activities in Kullu

To encourage and enable participation of youth in sports activities, the state government has announced construction of an indoor stadium in Kullu district.

This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the opening ceremony of 40th Junior Basket Ball Championship at Katrain in Kullu district on Sunday.

The state government would soon construct an indoor stadium for various sports such as boxing and Table Tennis at the School Complex, Katrain in Kullu district, so that the youth of the region could get best facilities for exhibiting their talent at national and international level, he said.

CM lays foundation stone of lift irrigation scheme to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 9.98 crore for a group of villages in GP Bandrol, Jaindaur, Baveli and Sarsari in Kullu District.

The Chief Minister announced Rs 10 lakh for the indoor stadium and said that the state government would provide additional assistance in a phased manner.

The state Basket Ball Association was doing a commendable service in promoting basketball in the state, he said, adding that this provides an opportunity to the youth to exhibit their talent.

He said that the government would give special stress on creating sports infrastructure right upto rural areas.

He also announced Rs 1 lakh for smooth organization of this tournament and also Rs. 51,000 for the State Basketball Association.
