Manjinder Singh Sirsa, on Thursday, announced major upgrades to 15 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) with programmes worth Rs 170 crore for improving the existing infrastructure. The move is aimed at upskilling the Indian youth to transition from job seekers to job creators.

Speaking at a Regional Conference of Skill Ministers in Chandigarh, he said, “Delhi’s upgraded ITIs will equip our youth with 21st-century competencies so that they graduate as job-creators, not just job-seekers.”

He further noted the amalgamation of modern subjects of Robotics, AI, EV and Green Energy into the upgraded course module to prepare India to meet the future demands. “By integrating EV, AI, Robotics and Green Energy modules into ITI curriculum, we are creating the launchpad for our youth to make Delhi and Bharat future-ready,” Sirsa added.

An official document detailed the planned ‘Hub and Spoke’ model for three Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) — Pusa (Central Delhi), Shahdara (East Delhi) and Mangolpuri (North-West Delhi) — which will act as hubs. Each hub institute will mentor up to four spoke ITIs, providing guidance on infrastructure, faculty development and industry linkages.

At these institutions, “Smart classrooms, simulation labs and blended-learning content will be introduced alongside mandatory internships and apprenticeship-enabled diploma pathways,” read the press document.

The minister also noted a building of an ecosystem of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) at ITIs in Dheerpur, Mayur Vihar, and Pusa, where students are being trained in Industrial Automation, Robotics and Advanced Welding.

Under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, over 1,300 artisans have already received verified training across Delhi ITIs, while outreach programmes like Jan Shikshan Sansthan in Jahangirpuri have benefited 1,000+ women at the doorstep level, the official document pointed out.
