The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) on Friday announced the results of the written examination for the recruitment of higher secondary (Class XI-XII) teachers in state-run schools.
The results were declared 54 days after the examination, along with the publication of the answer keys.
Candidates can check their scores on the Commission’s official website — www.westbengalssc.com.
The examination was conducted on 14 September across 478 centres in West Bengal for 35 subjects, each carrying 60 marks. The total number of vacancies under the current recruitment process stands at 35,726, of which 12,514 are for the higher secondary section.
According to the WBSSC, 2,46,543 candidates had applied for the higher secondary posts, including 3,120 specially-abled candidates, and 2,29,606 appeared for the written examination.
Candidates can access their results by logging into the SSC portal, selecting their roll numbers from the dashboard, and clicking on the ‘View Result’ option.
The Commission has informed that the list of candidates shortlisted for the interview round will be released within a few days, and document verification will commence from 17 November.
State education minister Bratya Basu, in a post on X assured candidates of complete transparency in the recruitment process.
“There is no reason to worry. The state government stands firmly beside you. Every step will be taken with utmost fairness and transparency. Have faith that your patience, merit, and dedication will always be respected,” he wrote.
In total, nearly 5.25 lakh candidates appeared for the SSC recruitment examinations across different categories — with 23,212 vacancies at the secondary (Class IX-X) level and 2,93,192 examinees in that segment.
To expedite the recruitment process, the Commission has decided to call 160 candidates for every 100 vacancies, instead of the previous 1:4 ratio.
Consequently, around 60,000 candidates will be called for interviews against the 35,726 vacancies.
An education department official said that interviews for the higher secondary level will be conducted first since the number of vacancies is comparatively lower.
“Roughly 21,000 candidates are expected to be called for interviews at this level, so the process will be completed faster,” the official said.
