Dr BC Roy Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur, celebrated National Youth Day and 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with the installation of a statue of Swamiji in its campus.
The statue was inaugurated by Swami Stavapriyananda Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ramharipur, Bankura.
The programme commenced with the performance of Somnath Banerjee and his team. Society members, principals of four colleges, faculty members, staff and students were present in the programme.
All present in the programme paid floral tributes to the statue of Swamiji. Members of ‘Vivekananda Bani Prachar Samity’, Durgapur chanted Vedik Mantras and Swamiji’s Swadesh Mantra.
Swami Stavapriyananda Maharaj was felicitated by Tarun Bhattacharya, General Secretary of Dr BC Roy Engineering College (Society).
Swami Stavapriyananda addressed the gathering explaining the teaching and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, emphasising youth empowerment, character building and the role of education in nation-building. The celebration reinforced the institution’s commitment for inspiring students with values of leadership, service and self-confidence as envisioned by the great philosopher and spiritual leader.
