One killed, two hurt as tractor collides with goods train

Bhutka Soren (35), a resident of Sisir Danga, under Jamuria police station, was killed and two others injured when a brick-laden tractor, while allegedly trespassing on the railway track near Barabani under the Andal–Topsi–Barabani section of Asansol Division, collided with a moving goods train.

Raju Murmu and Sunil Tudu, who were also travelling on the ill-fated tractor, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Asansol District Hospital. Officers of the Andal GRP reached the site upon receiving information and took the body to Asansol District Hospital for post-mortem.

Sources in Eastern Railway’s Asansol Division said the tractor, carrying bricks, had forcibly entered the railway track, causing disruption.

The incident occurred at around 10.40 a.m. today. The Asansol Division has been coordinating with local authorities to investigate the incident, ensure safety, and restore normal train operations.

Passengers and road users have been advised to avoid trespassing and to follow all railway safety norms.
