Eastern Railway’s Asansol Divisional Control Room organised a health check-up camp at the DRM Office to promote a stress-free and healthy work culture among officers and staff engaged in round-the-clock operational duties. The initiative focused on preventive healthcare, effective stress management and overall well-being of personnel working under sustained high-pressure conditions.
During the camp, comprehensive medical examinations were conducted, including measurement of height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) levels. Doctors examined each participant and offered personalised medical advice based on individual test results. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining physical fitness, adopting healthy lifestyle habits and managing occupational stress, which is particularly relevant for staff working in control room environments.
The Divisional Control Room functions as the nerve centre of Asansol Division, operating continuously to monitor, regulate and coordinate train movements across the network. Section controllers track the real-time movement of Mail, Express, passenger and freight trains to ensure safety, punctuality and smooth traffic flow.
It also serves as the central coordination hub among the operating, commercial, engineering, mechanical, signal and telecommunication, and security departments. During operational disruptions, the control room plays a critical role in coordinating timely relief measures, regulating train services and minimising inconvenience to passengers. It further ensures optimal utilisation of locomotives, coaches, wagons and crew, while facilitating maintenance and safety-related works.
A healthy and stress-free workforce directly contributes to safer train operations, improved punctuality and an enhanced passenger experience across Asansol Division.
