Enhanced platform lighting improves safety for passengers

Eastern Railway

As part of its passenger amenity enhancement initiatives, the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has commissioned upgraded lighting facilities at Salanpur railway station to improve safety and visibility.

On 13 October, nine octagonal single-arm streetlight poles and nine double-arm poles with 45W LED lights were installed on the platform. In addition, the existing eleven poles fitted with 25W lights have been upgraded to 45W LED fittings, and the illumination within the platform shed has also been enhanced.

The upgraded lighting ensures uniform coverage, reduces glare, and improves visibility in key areas of the platform, in accordance with Railway Board Lux-level guidelines. This enhancement significantly boosts passenger safety and convenience, particularly during evening and night hours, while creating a brighter and more welcoming station environment.

Passengers at Salanpur station can now enjoy a safer, well-lit, and more comfortable environment while waiting for trains or moving across the platform. The initiative underscores Asansol Division’s commitment to modernising stations and providing facilities that meet high standards of safety, convenience, and aesthetics.
