Chief minister Mamata Banerjee urged the Enforcement Directorate to conduct a thorough probe into the allegations made by the complainants who are often giving false information to harass the concerned persons.

She was taking part in a debate on the speech of Governor CV Ananda Bose which was delivered on the floor of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly last week.

Without naming the Leader of Opposition, Ms Banerjee said, “We know who owns hotels, trawlers and other businesses. We know what they are doing but the BJP is like a washing machine if you put all the dirty things it will come out clean.”

Without naming the Adhikari family, she said, “I do not want to take anybody’s name but where were they when the police opened fired in Nandigram. Around midnight the then Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi telephoned me and asked to take shelter anywhere in the night as there may be attacks on me. When we went to enter an accommodation in Kolaghat, the gates had been blocked but we could manage to enter the place. I have not forgotten anything.”

Referring to the aspersion made against the Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay by Suvendu Adhikari, she said such behaviour by a political leader is uncalled for and I apologise on behalf of all the MLAs.”

Coming down heavily on the saffron party Miss Banerjee said, “BJP talks about the corruption of others but never says anything on PM CARES fund. The government is earning but there is no audit by the CAG. Has anyone heard of such a thing? The central government is earning but the CAG has no power to audit the account. It is a den of corruption.”

Miss Banerjee said the security of Coal India is under the control of central forces and if that be so all the senior officials should be sacked for illegal mining. Why no inquiry is conducted against them,” she asked

She alleged that despite repeated requests, the Centre is not making rehabilitation in Ranigunj, where major subsidence can take place at any moment.

Rubbishing the allegation made by the BJP about the poor law and order situation in West Bengal, she said, “In Uttar Pradesh people are not allowed to file FIRs. How many Central teams had been sent to Unnao? In Gujarat poor health care infrastructure led to the death of so many children.

Miss Banerjee said in past there has been improvement in the education, finance and health sectors.

There has been remarkable infrastructure development. Projects like Duare Sarkar have received prizes from the Centre while Durga Puja and Sabuj Sathi schemes have received international recognition.
