Following the Israeli and US military strikes in Iran, Tehran on Saturday launched retaliatory missile strikes, targeting American military bases in several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, sparking fresh concerns of a wider conflict in the region.
In Bahrain, Iranian missiles struck the US Navy’s 5th Fleet Command. According to the Bahran’s National Contact Center, a service centre affiliated with the US naval base came under the Iranian attack, prompting the country to close its airspace and issue a safety advisory for the residents in the area.
A purported video of the Iranian missile attack has also surfaced. The video shows a speeding object striking the US naval base in Juffair. Thick black smoke is seen bellowing into the sky moments after the impact as loud sirens blare in the background.

The U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet command, which was targeted by a missile attack, is responsible for securing the shipping lanes around the oil-rich Middle East. The region has three key strategic chokepoints – the Suez Canal and the Bab al-Mandeb on either end of the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz, which is largely controlled by Iran.
Meanwhile, A loud explosion was also heard in Abu Dhabi amid reports of an Iranian missile strike. Qatar’s Al-Udeid Air Base, the largest US military base in the Middle East, was also targeted by Iran. Loud sirens were heard as Qatari air defence systems intercepted Iranian missiles. Qatar reportedly deployed US-made Patriot interceptor systems to intercept the Iranian missiles.
Israel launched ‘Operation Lion’s Roar’, a joint military offensive with the help of the United States, against Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the attacks on Iran are aimed at removing the “existential threat” posed by what he called “the Iranian terrorist regime”.
Netanyahu alleged that the Ayatollahs’ regime chanted “Death to Israel,” “Death to America” for 47 years. He further accused the regime of spilling blood, murdering many Americans, and massacring its own people. The PM warned that this “murderous terrorist regime must not be allowed to arm itself with nuclear weapons that would enable it to threaten all of humanity.”
