WATCH | Iranian State TV releases animated reenactment of ‘failed’ US mission in Isfahan to rescue downed aircraft crew

Iranian State TV on Thursday released an animated reenactment of the US operation in Iran’s Isfahan to rescue the crew of a fighter jet F-15E downed over Iran last week.

According to Press TV, the video depicts America’s “major defeat” in the Isfahan escape mission, a setback that changed the course of the war, forcing the US to seek a ceasefire and accept Iran’s demands.

The Press TV animated video depicted a firefight between the US rescue teams and Iranian troops, aircraft shot down shot down and a chopper was hit.

Contradicting Trump’s claim of complete air superiority in the region, Iran last week shot down a US F-15E fighter jet but its crew members – a pilot and a weapons officer – managed to eject.

US forces dispatched a rescue team involving a C-130 aircraft and two helicopters. The rescue mission evacuated the pilot within hours but the weapons officer could not be located.

The United States then launched a daring rescue mission, involving hundreds of troops and dozens of aircraft to rescue the missing officer, who was later identified as a “colonel”.

Iran also launched an operation to trace the US airman, who reportedly managed to communicate his location to the US rescue team through a secure communication device.

The colonel moved away from the crash site and used his SERE training to remain hidden from the Iranian military, according to US media reports.

He reportedly moved to elevated ground, and took cover in a mountain crevice, making it difficult for both Iranian and US forces to locate him.

According to the reports, Iran and US forces exchanged fire during the rescue and the US even destroyed two of its aircraft.

US officials later admitted that two of its Special Operations aircraft were blown up on the ground during the rescue of the colonel.

The aircraft, identified as MC-130J, became stranded, prompting the US rescue mission to destroy them as they feared the planes could fall into Iranian military hands.
