Sambalpur, 11 November
With an aim to make police more people-friendly and reduce response time to attend any untoward situation or incident, Sambalpur police introduced their upgraded PCR system here.
The DIG of police (northern range) Mr Sanjay Kumar flagged off the vehicle in the presence of SP Mr Prateek Mohanty and other senior officials at Laxmi Talkies Chowk. Three PCR vans were covering the entire town earlier assisting the citizens during their need besides normal policing. Now, these vans have been improvised bearing totally a new look with better lightning system, effective siren, microphones with announcement facilities, search lights etc which were unavailable earlier, said Mr Kumar. In addition to the PCR vans, eight white colour motor bikes have been added to the system to cover the lanes and by-lanes and respond to the crimes, law and order situations and traffic clearance duties.
“All the efforts aim at improving the sense of security among the citizens in the city,” he added.
Mr Mohanty sought for the cooperation and assistance of citizens to make the PCR system more effective.
With the new system in place, people feel secured as they would get the police service more quickly than earlier, he claimed.
