Uber Technologies Inc co-founder Travis Kalanick reportedly resigned as CEO of the ride-hailing service on Wednesday.

Media reports said Kalanick’s resignation has come after a company’s shareholder revolted.

“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life, I have accepted the investors’ request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted with another fight,” Kalanick had said in a statement earlier.

Earlier, there were reports that Kalanick was likely to take a leave of absence from the ride-hailing company, but no final decision was made.

Kalanik had co-founded the company in 2009 and helped in building it into a transportation giant.
