US President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized the United Nations over illegal immigration, accusing the global body of funding undocumented migration and “assaulting” the borders of Western countries.

Citing the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany as examples, he said that these countries are being ruined due to illegal immigration.
“The best example is the number one political issue of our time, the crisis of uncontrolled migration. It is completely unchecked. Your countries are being ruined. The United Nations is investing in an assault on Western governments and their borders,” he said while addressing the UNGA.

Citing 2024 UN figures, Trump said the organization budgeted USD 372 million in cash assistance to support an estimated 624,000 migrants traveling to the United States.

“The UN is supporting illegal immigrants coming into the US, and then we are forced to remove them. It has also provided food, shelter, transport, and even debit cards for illegal aliens. Can you believe that? It is a way to infiltrate our southern border,” he said.

Millions of people have crossed that border. Millions and millions are pouring in, 24 million in four years. This must stop, totally stop, he said.

“The UN is supposed to stop invasions, not create them, yet it is financing this unmitigated crime, depleting our social safety nets,” he alleged.

He argued that the UN is not only failing to address problems it should, but also creating new ones. “We have reasserted that America belongs to the American people,” he added.

Trump also criticized Europe, alleging that it is being overrun by illegal immigrants. “Europe is in trouble,it has been raided by illegal aliens. They are pouring into Europe, and nobody is paying attention. Look at London,it is in terrible condition,” he said.

“Sharia law in a Western city, you cannot allow that. If something is not done immediately, it cannot be sustained,” he said.

Slamming asylum, he said, “Every country has the right to control its borders. Each nation is unique. People put their blood, sweat, and money into building their countries, and now they are being ruined. Proud nations should protect their communities instead of being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants. Migrants who have violated laws or falsely claimed asylum or refugee status should be sent back to their homes. Problems must be solved in their own countries, not created in ours.”

Trump cited statistics to back his claims about foreign criminals in Europe, “Illegal migrants were pouring into our country totally unchecked and unvetted, but not anymore. In Germany, 50 percent of inmates are foreign nationals. In Greece, it’s 54 percent. In Switzerland, 72 percent. They repaid kindness with crime.”

He reiterated: “Your countries are going to hell.”

Lauding his administration’s actions to curb illegal migration, he said, “Once we started detaining and deporting everyone who crossed the border and removing illegal aliens from the United States, they simply stopped coming. They’re not coming anymore.”
