Iran on Monday warned that continued Israeli attacks in Lebanon could threaten the ceasefire with the United States.
In a social media post on X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the agreement with the United States included a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.
“A ceasefire between Iran and the United States constitutes, without any ambiguity, a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon,” he said.
He further warned that any violation of this ceasefire on one front would be considered a violation of it across all fronts.
“The United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any breach of the truce,” he added.
His remarks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered attacks on purported Hezbollah targets in Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon.
Netanyahu said that Israeli forces have been ordered to strike “terror targets” in the Hezbollah stronghold of Dahieh in response to alleged rocket and drone attacks on civilians.
Trump announces fresh ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah
The Iranian threat prompted US President Donald Trump’s intervention as he announced a new ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Trump said that he spoke to Netanyahu and Hezbollah and they both agreed not to attack each other.
“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no troops going to Beirut, and any troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“Likewise — through highly placed representatives — I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump added.
In another post, he claimed that talks are continuing at a rapid pace with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
