With their second India Travel Mission, Brand USA eyes more tourists from India, reports rakesh kumar
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, when every other country geared up to cash in their natural assets, then how could the US be left behind? The country has an incredible array of adventures, stunning natural areas, diverse culture, vibrant cities and welcoming people. It also boasts vibrant landscapes of cities like Miami, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, San Diego and San Francisco. All these make it an ideal tourist destination. To woo the Indian tourists, the country organised a second India Travel Mission on 26 September. Organised by Brand USA, an organisation to promote the US as a premier travel destination, in which over 47 participants representing 31 US organisations, including hotels and destination management companies, participated. “Emerging markets such as India, Brazil and China play an important role in tourism industry. That&’s why it was hard to ignore India,” said Jay Gray, vice-president, Global Partnership Development, Brand USA. In the last couple of years there has been a steady increase in the number of Indian arrival to the US. As per the latest figures released by the US Department of Commerce, India ranked 12th among the top 20 tourist-generating countries for the US with 724,433 arrivals, an increase of 9.2 per cent over the previous year.

When it comes to natural beauty then sunny beaches, towering redwoods, snowy peaks and desert oases are ready to welcome you. Festivals like Palm Springs International Film Festival, Gilroy Garlic Festival (July), NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in Fontana (November) are some of the major attractions.
Talk about Florida and one will find Disneyland, SeaWorld and Universal. Roller coasters, dolphin companions and acrobat orcas add to the adventure list. Apart from swimming with dolphins, meeting Shamu the orca whale and Mickey Mouse are a must for a tourist. Channeling their inner wizard at Harry Potter&’s Hogwarts, Disney, Universal, Sea World and Lego Land are playgrounds for children as well as adults.
