Sia Srivastava among five finalists of ‘Doodle 4 Google’ contest

Sia Srivastava, a Grade 4 student at Folsom Elementary, Prosper in Texas state, has made it to the final of the 10th ‘Doodle 4 Google’ art contest. The contest was open to K-12 students across 53 states in the US.

The theme this year was “What Inspires Me?”. Sia’s doodle “Intergalactic Space Exploration Rollercoaster” was chosen as the best in her age group and she is now in California to celebrate at the Google headquarters.

Sia’s school, Folsom Elementary, tweeted to congratulate her on her achievement on its Twitter handle. Here’s the tweet:

The winner picked from those five will then be announced as the national winner, taking home a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education grant for his or her school.

The finalists are:

  1. Grades K-3: Sarah Gomez-Lane (Grade 1, Falls Church, VA)
  2. Grades 4-5: Sia Srivastava (Grade 4, Prosper, TX)
  3. Grades 6-7: Ignacio Burgos (Grade 7, Portsmouth, RI)
  4. Grades 8-9: Madelyn Kieh (Grade 9, Yeadon, PA)
  5. Grades 10-12: Mark Thivierge (Grade 10, Lutz, FL)
