India has slammed Pakistan for its hypocrisy on human rights violations at the 34th Meeting of the 60th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva on Wednesday.
Responding to the Pakistani representative’s remark a the UNHRC, Indian diplomat Mohammed Hussain said that it was ironic Islamabad was lecturing others on human rights.
“India finds it deeply ironic that a country like Pakistan seeks to lecture others on human rights. Instead of spreading propaganda, Pakistan should confront the persecution of minorities on its own soil,” Hussain said.
The Indian statement came days after Pakistan bombed its own civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At least 30 people, including children, were killed after Pakistani jets bombed their pwn people in a village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
While the Pakistani government has not issued any statement regarding the bombing, it sparked a huge protest by the locals in the area.
Last month, the Pakistani Army killed Advocate Zubair Baloch, a leading human rights activist and former chairman of the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Pajjar).
The Baloch Nationalist Movement (BNM) had called it an act of state terrorism.
The BNM said that the assassination of Zubair was not coincidental but a deliberate targeting of a prominent voice advocating for the rights of Baloch people.
