At least seven people, including three Iranians, were killed on Thursday in a car bomb and gun attack in Iraq’s southern province of Nasriyah, a provincial security source said.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a restaurant at Fadak area in west of the city of Nasriyah, some 375 km south of Baghdad, leaving four Iraqis and three Iranians killed, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The attack also left some 20 people wounded, the source said.

Meanwhile, a booby-trapped car was detonated at a security checkpoint near the attacked restaurant, the source said without giving details about casualties.

The attacks came as the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi paid a visit to the province and met the provincial government and some tribal leaders.
