Rains dampened the Ganesh puja celebrations in many parts of Odisha and the low pressure over Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
People preferred to remain indoors. Ganesh Puja and the Nuakhai festival which begins on Tuesday in western Odisha districts, are likely to be affected by adverse weather conditions.
The meteorological centre forecast said the low pressure area now lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Southwest Bangladesh. Under its impact, rain or thundershower is likely to occur in most places in Odisha during the next 24 hours.
The system is also likely to trigger heavy rainfall in a few places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over north Odisha.
