A Plastic Park will be set up at Siju village of Jagatsinghpur district, said Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizer, Srikant Kumar Jena today.
The proposed Plastic Park shall be set up by a Special Purpose Vehicle – “Paradeep Plastic Park Limited” and the central government will provide Rs 40 crore of which already Rs 8 crore will be released immediately, he said.
The Plastic Park being established near IOCL, Paradeep Refinery will have the necessary state-of-art infrastructure and shall facilitate investments by micro, small, medium and large units which will create vast employment opportunities.
It may be recalled that a plastic, polymer and allied cluster is already being set up at Balasore at a project cost of Rs. 81.90 crore with central government grant of Rs. 58.28 crore. Recently, an Advanced Plastics Processing Technology Centre (APPTC) under the aegis of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) at Balasore was inaugurated by Jena. The centre at Balasore trains students through various diploma, post graduate diploma programs and skill oriented vocational training programs in plastics processing technologies. The CIPET centre shall act as an employment conduit between the skilled students and the upcoming industry at Jagatsinghpur, Balasore and other places in Odisha, informed Jena.
Jena said with these stimuli, opportunities shall be provided to the entrepreneurs in and around Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradeep, and other districts of Odisha to set up new ventures, expand their operations and also compete globally. He said that the projects envisaged in the region shall have vast social and economic benefits as they will create direct and indirect employment openings for thousands of people.
