Pensioners and a section of the employees of Paradip Port Trust staged a demonstration in front of the administrative building demanding early redressal of their grievances.
It is learnt that the protest was part of the five central federations which conducted such demonstration in front of all the major ports in the country.
Their demands include grievance redressal of pensioners and wage revision of employees.
There are at least  850 pension holders and 2300 employees of PPT.  Today, nine trade unions affiliated to the port and dock federations of National Trades Union Congress (NITUC) ,Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and others took out rallies from their respective union offices before congregated at administrative building of PPT to conduct protest meeting.
The trade union leaders blamed shipping ministry for non-fulfillment of their demands.
They served an one month ultimatum to the ministry. Trade union leaders Mr Bibhutiranjan Panda, Mr Ananta Das, Mr Sukanta Dalei and others spoke on the occasion and criticized union shipping ministry.
