Pakistan: Suicide blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaves 8 dead, 35 injured

At least eight people, including two security officials, were killed and 35 others got injured in a major blast in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, local police said.

The incident happened when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district of the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to PTI.

A District Police official informed that the bomber had detonated his explosive-laden three-wheeler auto rickshaw at the Phattak Chowk in Naurang Bazar.

Among the eight people killed were two traffic police personnel and a woman. As many as 35 others got injured in the blast and were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Sarai Naurang for treatment.

Among them, those who were said to be in critical condition were referred to hospitals in Bannu and Peshawar, while an emergency was declared at the hospital and all staff members were called.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shahdab Khan said ambulances and rescue teams have been dispatched to the site for relief work.

Taking note of the blast, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi has asked Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report in the matter.
