Foreign ministry of North Korea has strongly criticised recent military actions by Israel and the United States on Iran, calling them illegal and a clear violation of national sovereignty. The statement, reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Sunday, described the attacks as “unacceptable under any circumstances.”

The spokesperson said the US operation against Iran was not surprising, calling it “within the range of expectations.” They added that such aggressive moves were inevitable because of what North Korea described as the “hegemonic and gangster-like” behaviour of the United States.

Israel’s military confirmed it had launched a large wave of strikes targeting Tehran. The operation then followed a major air raid in multiple cities of Iran. That raid reportedly killed Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

These developments have raised fears of broader instability in the Middle East. Right now, tensions escalate between countries in the region.

North Korea has now urged Iran’s neighbouring countries in the Middle East as well as all other nations with shared interests to step up and work toward restoring peace and stability.
