National Broadcasting Company (NBC) journalist Megyn Kelly is facing flak from netizens for asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi whether he was on Twitter.

With over 30 million followers on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the second-most followed world leader on Twitter after Donald Trump, certainly must not have expected this question from her.

The prime minister is known for actively using the medium during his domestic and foreign tours, posting photos and videos and interacting with people.

Kelly asked the question while interacting with PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at state dinner party at Konstantin Palace in St Petersburg.

The situation came to light when Modi praised Kelly for her picture on Twitter where she is posing with an umbrella, to which Kelly asked the prime minister "Are you on Twitter?" Modi laughed off her question.

Since then, Kelly has become the subject of backlash on Twitter.

One Twitter user wrote, “@NBCNews @megynkelly confirms she is uninformed journalist. #Modi.”

Another wrote, “Did you just ask @narendramodi who has 30.3 mil followers, if he’s on twitter? Seriously @megynkelly? Pls rsrch on who you are interviewing.”

"Shocking. @megynkelly of @NBCNews asks PM @narendramodi if he is on twitter. Do some homework. He is the third most followed world leader," Aditya Raj Kaul‏ wrote.

"Despite the hype @megynkelly comes across as terribly unprepared asking @narendramodi if he's on @Twitter Heard of basic research? @NBCNews," Rahul Kanwal‏ wrote.

"Dear @megynkelly here is ur twitter profile vs @narendramodi sir profile, still u ask that r u on twitter. Wats d population f ur country btw," Kumar Amritansh‏ said on Twitter.
