Two young women were killed by their father “in the name of honour” in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Saturday.

According to Bala Mani Deputy Superintendent of Police Fazal Wahid, Abdul Gani killed his daughters — 20-year-old Shamim and 10-year-old Noreen — in Peshawar’s Achar Kali area on September 20 and confessed to the crime upon his arrest, Dawn reported.

Last year, on October 6, a joint session of Parliament unanimously approved anti-honour killing and anti-rape bills.

The legislation on honour killings will introduce strict punishment for the convicts.
