Sana Mir and Usain Bolt named ambassadors of ICC T20 WC Qualifier 2024
Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir and eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt have been named as the ambassadors of women’s and men’s ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024.
In more bad news for embattled Nawaz Sharif, British authorities have arrested two of the former Pakistan prime minister’s grandsons in London over a scuffle with anti-Sharif protesters, according to a media report today.
According to Dawn online, initial reports said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) opponents had gathered outside the Avenfield residence where a protester was believed to have hurled abuses at Sharif’s grandsons Junaid Safdar and Zakaria Hussain, prompting them to lose their cool.
The verbal argument between the opponents and Junaid Safdar, the son of party supremo Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, alongside Hussain Nawaz’s son Zakariya, quickly turned into a physical brawl moments before the Metropolitan Police arrived to break up the fight, Geo News reported.

The brawl broke out near the Avenfield House, where the Sharif family owns four apartments.
Later, in a tweet, Maryam Nawaz said the “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers stationed outside London flat shouted (expletive) every time they saw Junaid”.
“Anyone would have reacted,” she said.
Authorities said they detained the junior Safdar for punching a young man (physical assault) and confirmed that Hussain Nawaz’s son Zakariya had also been arrested. The injured man belonged to Pakistan, police said.
Meanwhile, Sharif and his daughter flew off to Pakistan, a week after an accountability court sentenced them to 10 and seven years in jail in the Avenfield properties corruption case.
